Is Arsenal’s Oxlade-Chamberlain hinting at Liverpool move?

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently being linked with the exit door this summer, and he may have just hinted at a move from Arsenal. The 23 year-old has enjoyed his best season since joining the club, impressing in a number of positions this term including at full-back, wing-back, central midfield, as well as in advanced roles.

Despite his regular outings this year, he may well still be keen on leaving the club in the close-season with the intention to play in a consistent role, and Liverpool are believed to be keen on his signature.

The Ox has only one year remaining on his contract, and unless Arsenal could agree terms over a new deal, they may be forced to consider his exit.

The England international has now revealed that he wants to play in a central role in the future, and whilst he doesn’t see that as an immediate option in North-London currently, he has always wanted to be the new Steven Gerrard.

“Playing for a team like Arsenal, it ends up being more of a right-wing job,” Oxlade-Chamberlain said.

“I get the ball from deeper and the plays into my hands more.

“At the end of the day, it’s given me minutes and I’m not one to complain.

“But, the centre-mid role… I’ve always wanted to be Steven Gerrard, so I’ve still got a hope of that!”

Does his ‘Gerrard’ comment worry you about our chances of keeping the Ox beyond the summer? Could he opt for a switch to Liverpool if we fail to guarantee him regular minutes centrally? Does the Ox deserve to be ahead of Ramsey or Xhaka?
