Is Bellerin really annoyed with Wenger or was he just rested against Brighton?

According to recent reports, the Spanish right-back Hector Bellerin was angry with Arsene Wenger for being dropped a couple of hours before Arsenal’s game at Brighton this weekend. Many pundits have been saying that the Spaniard has been extremely ineffectual this season despite playing every minute of every League game in this campaign, but with an obvious lack of backups since the sales of Matthieu Debuchy (who has been playing like a genius since joining St Etienne) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (who forced his move to Liverpool), the only option Wenger had was to give his place to Calum Chambers.

Chambers was rated our best defender on Sunday, although that is not saying much, but apparently Bellerin thinks he has been made a scapegoat for Arsenal’s rubbish recent form and is going to try and force a move away again this summer to rejoin his family over in Barcelona. This rumour is being widely repeated but the fact is that it could just be another bit of sensationalist made-up click bait from the mainstream media.

But of course it is also possible that Wenger wanted to give the 22 year-old a rest ahead of Thursday’s game against AC Milan, after playing so much already this season, but that is hardly such an interesting story is it?

I guess we will find out when Wenger names his starting XI in Milan on Thursday….
