Is it time Arsenal tried using two strikers up front?

Do Arsenal need to change their formation? by AK

In the past few months, most notably against Manchester United, PSG and Everton, Arsenal have struggled to control the midfield and constantly are unable to dictate and control the tempo the game. Though this is also due to the absence of Santi Cazorla, would Arsenal perform better in a 4-3-1-2 formation?

Cech
Bellerin Gabriel Kos Monreal
Xhaka Ramsey Coquelin
Ozil
Sanchez Giroud

A midfield 3 of either Xhaka-Ramsey-Coquelin or Xhaka- Elneny-Coquelin, will allow us more of a presence in the midfield and allow the team in general to move further up the pitch, seeing as in the past two games the back line and the midfield has constantly sat back inviting pressure to build up, whilst the attacking trio of Theo, Ozil and Sanchez would just remain up top. This would also bring out the best of Ramsey who reminded everyone in the Euros how good he can be in a three-man midfield. Also with the movement of Sanchez and Ozil they usually find themselves in the Flanks anyways.

Kierian Gibbs and Hector Bellerin also play more like wingbacks then fullback and would offer another offensive option if we were to set ourselves up like this.

Though this formation would mainly help control the Midfield it would also offer the best of our striking options in combining Giroud and Sanchez, which both oddly enough have the exact qualities the other player lacks, and will offer an aerial presence in the game.

Let’s not forget that we have an incredibly versatile squad this year and to not change the formations now then will only limit us both tactically and in style of play, even if this formation may just bring some control until Santi comes back why shouldn’t we take it?
