Is Ozil scouting German stars for Arsenal ?

Following on from concluding a shakey but progressive group stage campaign at the current European championships, Ozil has been a bit hit and miss in the opening games. Rated impressively in their last match vs Northern Ireland, he has also gone missing at times on the pitch during the tournament so far. Germany haven’t been overly impressive as a whole, but have still of course qualified for the round of 16.

After the final game was concluded, Ozil was keen to speak to the media about some of his fellow teammates and countrymen in regards to their growing talent.

Speaking to Bild, Ozil said: “German youth players have excellent reputations, and top foreign clubs become aware of them quickly. If a player in the German national team asks me how it is in England, I’d reply: ‘If you have the opportunity to do it!’ If I was again facing a decision whether to move abroad, I would do it like this again, 100 percent.”

Germany has a wonderful reputation for producing some of the world’s finest players and arguably at the moment they boast the best squad not just in Europe, but in the world, following on from their World Cup win in 2014. The German national team has some young talents in it this summer, many of which have been linked with big clubs across Europe. But there is a few German players I think Arsenal should be focusing on.

We heard recently how German defender Mats Hummels said that he had never been contacted by Arsenal before his big money move to Bayern Munich, suggesting that perhaps he would’ve come to England with the Gunners if given the chance. Well for both Mario Gotze and Julien Draxler, it seems that it is a possible reality and I think Arsenal should be going above and beyond to try and secure these two.

There is no doubts at all in this pair’s ability on the field. Gotze can operate in a number of positions on the pitch and is ever impressive, but he is currently limited in playing time due to competition for places in Bayern Munich’s midfield. Draxler on the other hand is a winger turned striker, with the player regularly featuring for Wolfsburg up front last season and impressing in that role too. Both have been heavily linked with Arsenal. Another player that comes to mind is 20 year old Leroy Sane, who has been linked with Europe’s biggest clubs. Sane however is likely to be signing for Manchester City this summer in a big money move.

Germany have plenty of young talent available, especially in midfield (although I think we have enough midfielders for now), so if Ozil is giving out hints to Wenger that perhaps he should be taking a look at some of Ozil’s fellow teammates while he is persuading them to move to England, then Le Prof certainly needs to get his act on.
