While the Arsenal and England international star will be over the moon just to be fit again and has already come off the subs bench to register his first playing minutes of the season, Danny Welbeck will be well aware that he faces a tough task in getting back into the first team on a regular basis.
One major plus point in the forward’s favour is that he is a versatile player, but the problem is that his two best positions are playing on the left of a front three or playing through the middle as our centre forward and those two positions are currently occupied by the in form Olivier Giroud and the brilliant and almost undroppable Alexis Sanchez.
So for now I think Welbeck is going to have to play the waiting game and just try to make his mark when Arsene Wenger does turn to the bench in the latter stages of a game. He has looked pretty good so far and almost got an FA cup goal away to Preston but to supplant the big Frenchman or the Chilean is going to take some stunning performances from Welbeck.
The only forward position not completely tied up at Arsenal right now is on the right, although Alex Iwobi and Lucas Perez have not been poor by any means. Theo Walcott was also in good form before his injury and he is not ready to return yet although it seems that he will not be much longer.
Is Walcott’s position the one that Danny is most likely to be able to seize? And will the boss give him a chance to stake his claim in the Premier League clash with Burnley on Sunday?
