Italian giants weighing up a move for unsettled Arsenal star

Arsenal braces themselves for Napoli bid for midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Torreira was one of Arsenal’s most unsettled players under Unai Emery and it seems the midfielder may still leave the Emirates soon should he want to.

Emery sidelined Torreira and was using Matteo Guendouzi as his preferred defensive midfielder. That act unsettled the Uruguayan and Emery began playing him out of position which also didn’t satisfy him.

He has, however, returned to the first team set up under Freddie Ljungberg but that has not stopped the speculation linking the 23-year-old with a move to Serie A.

Before Carlo Ancelotti was fired by Napoli, reports were linking Lucas Torreira with a move to the Italian side and those rumours have resurfaced.

Talksport claims that new Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso, is keen to make Torreira a member of his team and Napoli are planning on making a move for him.

The report further claims that the Italians will look to test Arsenal with an initial loan move, however, if that is rejected they will return with a £21 million offer.

It does seem increasingly likely that Torreira will depart the Emirates sooner than later. He has not cut a happy figure for some time now and once the rot sets in, it is unlikely to be turned around.

Even when a new manager is hired I am not sure it will make that much difference and am of the opinion that Torreira will end up back in Italy at some point in the near future.
