Iwobi joins Arsenal’s injury list – But it’s not serious apparently

Arsenal had a bad start to the season injury-wise, with Nacho Monreal coming back from the summer with an injury, and then immediately his two deputies for left-back, Saed Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were also quickly banished to the injury room as well.

Now it has been revealed that Alex Iwobi missed the Cardiff game through injury and has had to pull out of Nigeria’s international match against the Seychelles, but according to his father it won’t affect him returning to the Arsenal squad very quickly.

Speaking exclusively to allnigeriasoccer.com, Iwobi senior said. “Thanks for the concern. Indeed it was sad for Alex that he wasn’t in the squad for the Arsenal match versus Cardiff and had to withdraw from National Team for the match versus Seychelles.”

“He is on the road to recovery and should be back before the game against Newcastle (on 15 September).

“He loves playing for Nigeria and was extremely disappointed.”

Iwobi played an excellent game against Chelsea last month and his goal came second to Henrik Mkhitaryan’s effore in the same match for Goal of the Month, but perhaps he was already out of sorts when he appeared against West Ham. Let’s hope he gets back to the form against Chelsea very soon….
