January target keen on Arsenal move

There is a Nigerian striker that has been in the football news lately, firstly for being named Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot winner as his country won the U17 World Cup, and secondly for being tracked by Chelsea on the rumour pages.

Kelechi Nwakali has also been linked with a move to Man City where his brother Chidiebere has been for the last two years, but the youngster says he prefers a transfer to Arsenal rather than join the Portugese bus conductor at Stamford Bridge. He was quoted as saying: ‘I would love to play for Arsenal,’

‘They are the Premier League club I will like to play for them because they play the best football in the world.’

Nwakali has impressed all the scouts from the big European clubs at the World Cup, held in Chile, and it is a certainty that someone will snap him up in the January window, so why shouldn’t he come to Arsenal?

He is still only 17 years of age so will still have lots of improvement to come. If he spends a few years working under Thierry Henry at the Arsenal Academy perhaps he could go on to emulate the King in the future?

Meanwhile we have another young striker developing well. Chuba Akpom has already scored three goals for Hull City in the Championship, and last night he got his second goal for the England U21s this season as the Young Lions beat Switzerland 3-1. With Olivier Giroud approaching 30 next season Akpom could be promoted to the Arsenal first team squad if he keeps on improving. Personally I think we could have done with him in reserve this season….
