Kelechi Nwakali moves up another division but still waiting for Arsenal work permit

The Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has been out on loan for the last two seasons, the first one in the Dutch second division with MVV Maastricht and then moved up to the top division with VVV Venlo last season.

It has already been reported that he is now going to move up to the European giants Porto next season so we will see if he can handle the increase in pace and power. But the Nigerian international will be upset that he didn’t make the cut for the World Cup, but with the African side not setting the competition alight in Russia he will be hoping that he can start getting regular call ups soon so that he can get the requisite number of international games to qualify for a work permit for England and finally get to play a game for the Gunners.

But if he can impress his bosses at Porto it will make it much more likely that he will get his chances next season, and with the African Nations Cup coming up next summer as well he could finally get his wish to move to England. He first became a Nigerian hero when he captained his country to the 2015 U-17 World Cup title, winning the Golden Ball Award along the way, which was when he was snapped up by Arsenal. Surely a good season at Porto will put him back into international favour?
