KM – Thoughts on Sporting, Welbeck, and the challenges to come

Arsenal lose Danny Welbeck in a dull draw with Sporting by Konstantin Mitov

Hello lovely Arsenal people! So unlucky that guy Welbz is. I am so sorry for him as he really has been unlucky at Arsenal. This is not an injury due to to bad fitness or a player being poorly managed. It’s just a striker going all out for a header and falling awkwardly on his ankle which was really painful to see as the players faces showed.

I wish Danny a speedy recovery! It’s so sad, because he is one of those players that always gives 100% and with his deal ending in the summer this season was the time to convince the manager he’s worth the new contract, but now I’m unsure whether he’ll return in a meaningful time of the season. The other bad news is we’ve lost a player who’s been a great impact sub and did the job when he was called for in the cup tournaments.

Apart from that horror injury, the game was pretty dull. The positive part was we defended pretty well. I think Holding and Sokratis are the best pair in defense we have and I wasn’t worried at all about Sporting who failed to put a shot on target. Unfortunately our attack didn’t produce too much memorable moments either.

The line up we put on was mostly second string and it’s obvious that we’ve pretty much done our job in this group and if we don’t have any major hicc-ups we should be topping it too. That said I think Iwobi was pretty lively, but failed to get some end product and I thought he was a guy to challenge for a spot in the team. Mkhi didn’t put too much memorable notice of himself either and I wonder if Emery should have a word with him and see what’s up since he’s one of the few players who hasn’t really stepped up with the new manager.

For our next encounter, we welcome Wolves having drawn 3 of our last 4 games and we really need a win, since United and Spurs have picked up results despite not playing all that great. We’ll be facing them soon in consecutive games, we have a job to do our job before that.

Not a lot else to talk about really enjoy the rest of your week and hopefully we will add 3 more points to our tally.
