Arsenal fans and Arsene Wenger will be hoping that the Bosnian international star Sead Kolasinac does not join our German international defender Shkodran Mustafi on the sidelines for this weekend’s Premier League tie, because the left sided defender has been a real breath of fresh air since we signed him on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.
Perhaps even more important than his ability and strength on the pitch for Arsenal, however, is his importance to our usual system of three at the back. While Sky Sports are reporting that the beefy Bosnian is only a doubt for tomorrow’s trip to Watford after picking up a slight hip problem, his absence could force the boss into a late rethink on the formation for Arsenal.
Losing Mustafi is a blow but we have other centre backs to cover, but that left wing back role is not so easy to fill and maybe the Gunners would revert to a back four with Bellerin and Monreal as the full backs if Kolasinac was not fit.
With our most defensively solid central midfielder Francis Coquelin supposedly available to offer the defence more protection, this might not be bad move from the manager. Hopefully Kolasinac will play but if not, would you want Arsenal to change tactics accordingly?
