La Liga hotshot opens door to Arsenal transfer

Whereas this could be potentially very good news for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal, I cannot help but wonder what the poor manager of the Spanish La Liga club Celta Vigo thinks about the statement made by his top striker Nolito this week.

The 29-year old front man has been in scintillating form for the club this season, so good in fact that he has received his first ever call up to the Spain national team by Vicente Del Bosque. Nolito´s form and goals have been a major factor in Celta Vigo´s fine start to the season which sees them currently sitting in the final Champions League spot.

So it is hardly a surprise to hear that quite a few clubs around Europe have been keeping tabs on the Spanish forward, especially as it was being reported that there was a release clause in his contract. That is why Celta Vigo have put a new and improved contract on the table.

The good news for Arsenal and the bad news for Celta is that Nolito has not only stated that there is a problem and he won’t be signing, but he also revealed the amount of his release clause, as the Evening Standard have reported.

The striker said, “There is a detail that is not resolved and while it is not settled, I will not sign. I have a three-and-a-half year contract and a [release] clause of 18 million.

“If someday I’m wanted by a team, [they can] come speak with Celta and pay what you have to pay.

“No more [on this matter]. I want to be quiet. No one has called me, or, to my knowledge, Celta either.”

Quiet? Subtle this guy is not but the question is whether he is the right player to boost Arsenal´s fire power for the second half of the season.
