Leicester boss warns Arsenal fans to expect struggles after Wenger

Leicester City boss Claude Puel has warned that Arsene Wenger’s departure will be followed by difficulties, but he hopes Arsenal will reach a strong level again in time.

The Foxes are set to host the Gunners at the King Power Stadium tonight, and ahead of the match the home boss revealed that replacing a man like Wenger would be a struggle, and likened the chore to that of Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013.

“I hope for them they cannot regret their choice because he has had a massive impact as manager of Arsenal for 22 years,” Puel said.

“How can you replace him?

“I think it will be a good challenge for the new manager. It is always tough like after Sir Alex Ferguson, it was tough for the manager afterwards.

“After a few years they can come back at a good level.

“But it is difficult when a club have had success like this and replace the manager and sometimes replace valuable or great players.

“It will be difficult for the new manager.

“I think perhaps the new manager or great managers will like different options or possibilities to start his work.”

As we eagerly await a decision to be made on who will take up the helm following Wenger’s exit, we are all more than aware of the transitional period which will likely come, with the club having to adapt to a number of changes.

Other clubs in recent years have changed backroom personnel a number of times, and are well adept to such, but it remains to be seen whether our board have the know-how to get things right.

Do we trust the Kroenke’s and co to make the right decision? Will we become another club who changes coach every few seasons now? Is it possible to succeed with a long-term manager at this date in time?
