Leicester confident of beating Arsenal after Champions League exploits

Leicester have had a horrendous season after their amazing title winning exploits of last season, but since the sacking of Claudio Ranieri they have started to look more like last year’s surprise side and made an unexpected appearance in the quarter-final’s of the Champions League, where they gave Atletico Madrid a run for their money.

The Foxes star Marc Albrighton reckons that if they can emulate the way they played against the Spanish giants then he thinks they have little to fear from Arsenal tonight. “The immediate future is to finish as high as we can in the Premier League,” said Albrighton. “If we play like we played against Atletico at Arsenal, we’re confident of that.

“Then, looking into the future, we want a bit more European football, there’s no doubt about that. We feel like we can.

“We’re ambitious, we’re confident and, the fact that we’ve taken Atletico Madrid, a team of great tradition and history, to the wire in a Champions League quarter-final, that’s enough for us to say that we want more of this, we want more nights like that.

“We’re confident of that in years to come

“If we can get the wins and get safe as soon as possible this season, next season we are going to have less games without the European football. And we can have a real go at the league, and see how high we can finish. We are looking forward to it.”

Leicester will certainly have an advantage in that they have had a full week’s rest since that draw with Atletico, while Arsenal had a gruelling two hours play against Man City on Sunday and there will be some tired legs out there. It would seem that Wenger will have to rotate his side to try and inject some freshness into the team. One things for sure, it is going to be a very interesting game this evening…
