Leno happy to learn from Cech and Cech is happy to teach him

The arrival of Bernd Leno at Arsenal provoked debate as to who would be the Gunners first-choice keeper in this coming campaign. Cech now has the coveted Number One jersey this season, and I still think that he will be first-choice while Leno settles in and learns from the Maestro. Leno seems to be looking forward to learning from him too. The German said: “Of course Petr has a lot of experience and played many games. I have a lot of experience too, but he has much more, so I can learn from him.

“Petr has had a big career, he’s won many trophies and is still a big goalkeeper and a big personality. But I have to look at myself, and work hard every day to be the first choice of the coach.”

Cech is also full of advice for Leno andsays he needs to learn to adapt to the EPL and there is no one better to help him that Petr, who has been at the top here for ever. “You have to play your game and you have to find your way through,” Cech said.

“There are so many things that a goalkeeper coming to the Premier League has not experienced in a different league.”

“Obviously you have the physicality and the way the game is played in the Premier League,”

“The goalkeeper is not as protected as in Europe or different leagues. So I think that is something you need to find your way and deal with and obviously the quicker you do it, it is better for you.”

So I think that Emery will not take the chance of pitching Leno straight in against Man City in the opening League game, but rely on Cech’s experience. He may gradually introduce Leno in smaller games and let him integrate into the ways of the Premier League before making him the real Number One.
