Let us celebrate Theo Walcott – Ten years at Arsenal and 100 goals

This week can’t go by without a special mention for Theo Walcott, who became the 18th Arsenal player to reach 100 goals for the Gunners in their history, so it is not a regular occurrence by any means!

Theo has come in for a lot of stick over the years for his misses and his seemingly endless list of injuries, but the fact is that he has played 370 games for the club and has scored more than a goal every four games despite being a winger for 95% of his career. We have to give the man some credit surely.

Theo himself seems surprised at his achievement and admits that he never thought he would join such a select club. “No, not really,” Theo said on Arsenal.com. “I always wanted to put my all in, hard work, but never really [expected to] be in that category of 100 goals for Arsenal.

“It’s great. I’m lost for words to be fair because I didn’t really think about it before and it’s just happened. It’ll probably hit me in a few days I’m sure, but I really enjoyed that.

“I’m really proud of that personal achievement of mine. Especially playing out wide, to get that many goals… I don’t want it to stop now. It’s a really good achievement, I’m really happy.

“I couldn’t have done it without the guys as well, past and present, and I can’t thank them enough, all the players I’ve played with up to this point, and this group is brilliant. That’s a special moment for myself personally.”

Whatever your personal feelings about the guy, you can’t deny he has been a real servant to Arsenal Football Club, and we should give him the right to celebrate the fact. Agreed?
