Let’s make Torreira Arsenal’s centre-forward

You could say I’m a little bit biased, but after seeing the brilliant goal scored by Lucas Torreira against Tottenham last week and then followed up by one of the shots of the season today against Huddersfield, I think should be playing up front more often!

Torreira’s scissor kick won us all three points when Lacazette and Aubameyang couldn’t fight there way through, and did you hear what Granit Xhaka said after the match? “I think he wants to be like Auba and Laca! It’s an important goal for him and a great game for all of the team. As I said before, it wasn’t easy.”

You can’t help but love Torreira. Ever since he arrived he has kept his head down and done his job quietly and efficiently, and now he has added goals to his reportoire. And you had to love his comments after the game as well. He said on Arsenal.com:  “When the ball went to the back post, I saw Auba control the ball and got myself into the box because I thought he might put it straight back in,”

“The goalie made it hard for him so Auba hung it up and I was there waiting. It was just the goalscorer’s instinct that all players have – thankfully it came off and the goal meant we won the game.

“I am really happy, really happy. I work really hard throughout the week to make these moments happen at the weekend, because that’s the most important thing.

“These goals help the team to keep winning, keep improving and keep building confidence. We have a fantastic team and a great group and we enjoy playing together.

“The goal is for the fans too – they show up every week and follow us to all the different stadiums. They’re always there so this goal is for them first and foremost.”

He did it for us! You have to love that sentiment. He made sure we jumped back into the Top Four, andI must say I’m not too upset that Chelsea beat he Moneybags, but I am now going to cheer on Leicester until I am hoarse! I seriously hope they regret leaving Eriksen and Kane on the bench!
