Liverpool boss rules out signing Arsenal star next month

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move to Liverpool next month, but Jurgen Klopp has moved to rule out signing the Arsenal man.

The Reds were said to be eyeing a £25 Million offer for the former Southampton youth product, most likely with a view to covering the absence of Sadio Mane who will join up with his international team for the upcoming African Cup of Nations in the new year.

Jurgen Klopp has now moved to declare the rumours as ‘nonsense’, breaking his usual stance of refusing to comment on speculative transfers.

He said: ‘Usually I don’t say anything about transfer rumours, but I can make an exception. This is nonsense.’

I’m not totally sure how I would have felt about allowing the 23 year-old join a rival club, as his place in our side is limited, and I’m not sure if he will ever earn a first-team role.

The Ox is second in our club’s Premier League assist table at present, and clearly has a place in our playing squad, but I cant help but think we could improve on him in the coming window.

As we have said at JustArsenal a number of times, the Ox would most likely benefit from a loan deal, and then we may finally get to see how much he can improve given a regular first-team role, and I’d be quite interested in seeing him and Jack Wilshere swap over next season.

Eddie Howe has done a great job with Bournemouth, and he appears to be getting a great tune out of our former academy star Jack.

Should Arsenal look at improving on the Ox in January and send him on loan? Or does he need to see out the season before considering a temporary switch?
