Liverpool v Arsenal Player Ratings – Santi best of bad bunch

Liverpool 2 – 2 Arsenal Player Ratings by KJ

Szczesny – 7
Made some really good saves, was commanding but did have a bit of a brain fart that could’ve cost us but fortunately it didn’t.

Chambers – 5
Very rigid performance. I do worry about him in big games as he was schooled by Markovic and Sterling defensively and never looked in control offensively.

Debuchy – 7
A decent defensive performance and great work for our first goal.

Mertesacker – 5
He struggled to prevent dribbles at our defence and was very questionable for Liverpool’s second goal.

Gibbs – 7
He was very good in an attacking sense and defended well from our left side but let himself down at the end with their goal. If he stayed on the post, he might’ve prevented Skrtel’s goal.

Flamini – 2
Absolutely shocking performance. Picked up an early yellow that limited him. That’s a massive problem for an already limited player. Just stood around shouting at others.

Oxlade-Chamberlain – 3
Very poor as well. This is where the game would’ve been lost if Liverpool had a striker. They found it so easy to dictate the pace of the game. He was sloppy on the ball and released it too slowly.

Alexis – 3
He also had a shocker. Couldn’t do anything of any real quality with the ball.

Cazorla – 7.5 MOTM
Only attacking player that showed real quality. He constantly kept the ball in tight positions but with little to no support, he couldn’t do much else. Managed to get an assist for our second goal.

Welbeck – 3
He also didn’t do anything positive in attacking positions. He really is worrying me as he just loses the ball and doesn’t really stretch teams with his pace on the counter.

Giroud – 5
He did nothing positive aside from his goal but it was well taken.

Subs:
Coquelin – 6
He was actually pretty good when he came on and I’m seriously considering as to whether he should start our next game ahead of Flamini.

Campbell – N/A
Didn’t have any chance to influence the game.

Monreal – N/A
Same as Campbell.
