Man City run riot over Arsenal in empty Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have succumbed to another devastating defeat at the hands of Manchester City tonight, with the visitors taking no prisoners as they ran away with the game from the off.

Our boys started the match well, pressing forward and causing City problems at the back, but Bernardo Silva ruined all of that on minute 15 by scoring with a sublime curling shot from outside the area.

From this moment, the game turned, and unfortunately our opponents put us to the sword inside the following 18 minutes by scoring another two goals. David Silva scored the second of the match, controlling the ball beautifully to go clear of our defender and slot past Petr Cech, before the Man of the Match Leroy Sane put the ball in the net after a succession of neat passes.

The stats tell another story, with our side managing to acquire more shots on goal and on target than our opponents in the opening half, yet the scoreline was very different, but watching the game you would know that a number of our shots were from outside the box, and Ederson was more than equal to each of them.

In the second half, we tried to come out and get back into the game, and we nearly got gifted the perfect opening thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan being taken down in the box, with Nicolas Otamendi already on a yellow card, but the City star was let off and not carded for the incident, and then Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failed to beat Ederson. Double whammy… All hopes at this point are now gone.

Petr Cech denied Sergio Aguero from the edge of the box after he got onto a neat pass through the defence, but really there was little goalscoring opportunities to talk of in the second half that stand out, and all the ‘Wenger Out’ crowd will be having a field day after that performance.

Manchester City are simply on another level to us, and I struggle to see how we can challenge them with our current hierarchy.

Are Arsenal that bad or are Man City just that good? Did any Arsenal players have a good game?
