Man Utd draw a bonus but Arsenal top 4 hopes STILL slim

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal fans and anyone connected with the club would have been hoping for Everton to take something from the Merseyside derby yesterday and for Burnley to keep Turf Moor as the home fortress it has been all season, but unfortunately for us and our chances of finishing in the top four, Liverpool won at a canter and Tottenham did the same despite missing their top scorer Harry Kane.

That leaves them both almost out of the sight of Arsenal, with a nine and 12 point gap respectively. Even with our games in hands it would take the most optimistic of Gooners to believe we will catch them before the end of the season, especially judging by the way the Gunners have been playing recently.

We did get one boost to our hopes yesterday, however, with Jose Mourinho and Manchester United left frustrated as their ongoing habit of enjoying large possession of the ball without doing much with it carried on. West Brom defended manfully and after beating us in the last EPL game they earned themselves a draw at Old Trafford.

If Wenger was looking for something to motivate his team ahead of the big match with Man City today then maybe the fact that a win would put us back above Mourinho’s team will do the trick. The fact is that a draw is not really good enough today to keep our slim hopes of another season in the Champions League alive.
