Mancini confident that Lukas Podolski can help Inter to win trophies

The Arsenal winger Lukas Podolski has only been out on loan at Inter Milan for a few days, but he has already made his debut last night against the Serie A Champions Juventus, and helped his new club to pull back an equaliser in the second half.

Podolski’s new manager Roberto Mancini admitted that bringing on the German international was instrumental in Inter’s improvement after the break, and believes that Poldi can help the club to get back to being trophy-winners.

“We had more control of the wide areas and they found it harder to push up, that’s all,” Mancini said. “After that we went on to create some good chances.”

Mancini also admitted that he was also aiming to bring in Xherdan Shaqiri to bring even more width to the team, and used the opportunity to heap even more praise on the Arsenal man. “I don’t know if we’ll be able to do things quickly, although as a coach that’s what you always want,” Mancini continued.

“Quality players are always useful. Lukas Podolski hadn’t played in a while, so was not fully fit, but he can give Inter a big hand this season,”

“A Coach wins with good players. Without them you might win the odd game, but not a League or a trophy.

So it looks like Podolski is now going to get the regular playing time that he failed to get at Arsenal, and with the confidence of the manager behind him there is no doubt that he will continue his fine scoring record in Serie A. To earn a point away at the League leaders on your debut is not a bad way to start your career in Italy, and I can only wish Podolski well for the future.
