Marseille expect to beat Everton to sign outcast Arsenal striker

The arrival of Alexandre Lacazette at Arsenal has left our supersub Olivier Giroud in limbo, as the two Frenchmen are fighting over the role of centre-forward in the France national side. Obviously Wenger will have to play Laca as the Gunners usual start after paying 50 million for the 26 year-old, Giroud will not be happy over his lack of playing time with the World Cup looming next summer.

Oli has recently stated that he is happy to fight for his place when he said: “I won a few titles in my career, that is an important thing, but there is another thing which is important for me. And that’s the people [see you as a] loyal warrior on the pitch – that you always give your best for the team. And that’s why I want to carry on my good journey at Arsenal and I always want to give my best. I would love to win another title, or maybe more until the end of my contract. The motivation is here, always doing your best to make your family proud.”

Despite those words it would appear that Wenger may be keen to recoup up to half of his outlay on Lacazette and head off rivalry in the Arsenal camp by letting Giroud move on, and it was thought that he was very likely to replace Romelu Lukaku at Everton, but according to the Telegraph last night the much-maligned hitman is much more likely to return to France with Marseille and they are confident of getting their man. It will have helped that Giroud said last month: “I am not insensitive to the approaches of the French clubs and especially that of a mythical club like Marseille,” he told Telefoot.

He is likely to be first choice at the South of France club, and it can only help his national team spot by playing in Ligue 1, and in Arsenal’s favour he won’t be strengthening one of our rivals in the Premier League.

I firmly believe that both Giroud and Wenger will prefer that arrangement. Don’t you?
