The new Arsenal winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been named as Armenia’s Player of the Year 2017 at a ceremony held at the Football Academy of Armenia. He has won it 8 times overall and this win is his seventh in a row. “It’s always pleasant to be the first. It was great pleasure for me to receive this award. I will be trying to be the first in the coming years, as well,” Mkhitaryan said after the ceremony.
He also likes to think he will be an inspiration to the youngsters of Armenia. “I have also been a child, and I know how it feels. I have also had heroes I have tried to be like a certain footballer,” he continued.
“It’s a great honor, as it means you have achieved something for this country, for people that follow you. I’m only glad to be a hero for children,”
Meanwhile Petr Cech has missed out on the Czech version of our Player of the Year award after winning it 11 times in the previous 13 years, but this season he lost out to Vladimír Darida,
who plays as a central midfielder for the German club Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin. Cech had not had the best of years in 2017 which saw Arsenal fail to make the Top Four for the first time in 21 years, but there will be few people that will win as many Czech awards as Petr. Perhaps his best years are now behind him….
