Milan or Chelsea may still hijack Arsenal’s deal for Kolasinac

It was reported everywhere towards the end of last week that Arsenal had tied up a deal to sign the Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac, but apparently they have agreed personal terms but the free-agent is yet to put pen to paper on the deal as there may be other counter-offers.

According to SkySport Germany, the deal with Arsenal was a done deal, but the English Sky is saying that AC Milan have also been in talks with the versatile left-back, and also report that Chelsea were one of the first to speak to Kolasinac in January.

But it is obvious that nothing has been finalised as the player’s father has publicly announced that a decision has not been made. Kolasinac senior told Bosnian TV station N1 Sarajevo: “Next week we will decide everything.”

It would appear that Arsenal want (and need!) a complete overhaul of the squad this summer, and if Wenger is staying and intends to offload all the players nearing the end of their contracts, then he would prefer to get their replacements all lined up before letting them go. Le Prof is notoriously hard-nosed when it comes to transfer deals and is always looking to buy as cheap as possible while holding out for the best price when he is selling any of his own players.

One thing is for sure is that if Chelsea come in with a slightly better offer then we will lose out on Kolasinac. The Blues are always willing to pay higher wages than us, and I think they can safely guarantee Champions League football next season, whereas Arsenal will need a miracle to get there this time around….
