New candidate linked with Arsenal’s Sporting Director vacancy

Another name thrown into the mix for Arsenal sporting director job

The great Arsenal sporting director saga continues to roll on and we can now add a new name into the mix with Marseille Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta apparently our new main target for the role vacated following the departure of Sven Mislintat.

Zubizarreta was a top-class goalkeeper, he appeared 126 times for Spain, over 300 times for Barcelona and 152 times for Valencia. He became sporting director at Barca in 2010 before being fired in January 2015, he then next popped up at Marseille in October 2016 where he has been ever since.

The 57-year=old clearly has an immense amount of experience, he must have a huge list of contacts and I am sure would be a great addition to Arsenal football club.

It is a little difficult to get too excited simply because we have had so many other names thrown into the mix including Monchi and Marc Overmars but because this does originate from a credible French media outlet L’Equipe I am inclined to believe this one could actually happen.

From a personal point of view I would be pleased with this appointment, he is Spanish same as Unai Emery and that alone makes for good communication and that cannot be a bad thing, he has been at the top of the game both as a player and as a sporting director and on the face of it, appears to be a solid candidate.
