New injury blow is actually Perfect for Arsenal

Most Arsenal fans could understand the thinking of Arsene Wenger when he made the decision to start David Ospina in goal for the first Champions League group game away to Dinamo Zagreb. After all, the Colombian international was a very impressive and reliable performance for the Gunners last season and we all expected even a weakened Arsenal side to come away from the Croatian club with all three points.

After we had lost that game though, it was a lot harder for people to understand the decision of the manager to keep Ospina in the starting line up for the second group game at home to Olympiacos. Hindsight is a great thing of course and after Ospina´s schoolboy error was directly responsible for yet another defeat, the boss was roundly slated for not turning to Petr Cech.

Whether he would have stuck to his guns once more for the third and now critical group game at home to Bayern Munich is debatable, especially with some parts of the football media suggesting that Wenger had promised his number two all the cup games.

Thankfully for Arsenal fans and possibly Wenger himself, that decision has been taken away from him as The Mirror has reported that Ospina is not available due to a shoulder injury. Have we ever been so pleased to hear of an Arsenal player getting injured?
