Opinion – Could Freddie himself solve Arsenal’s winger problem?

Our football playing coach to the rescue by Lagos Gooner

Good morning gooners; how do you do? It is just a few days to our next game against Brighton and I can’t just help but wonder if our coach Ljungberg should be allowed to solve Arsenal’s winger problem and play himself on Thursday. Wouldn’t it be nice to see him dazzle our opponents with his dashing runs and skills, once again?

While our game against Norwich was going on, one of the cameras covering the game showed us a brief video of our coach controlling the ball and helping himself to some nice ball raising skills. Guys, our coach still has it in him. Please, can we have a player-coach for Arsenal?

Freddie Ljungberg was a phenomenon during his playing days at Arsenal. His best performance in an Arsenal shirt was in the 2001/2002 season, when Arsenal won their second Premier league and FA cup double. That season, he scored 17 in all competitions. He was good at either wings of the midfield and also centrally. He spent nine good and productive years at Arsenal, although he struggled a lot with injury problems. Whenever Ljungberg was on form, the team was on fire. Such was his impact that Wenger tried to force him to stay at Arsenal, until the end of his contract, when the Arsenal board wanted to force him out of the club, due to his persistent injuries. He left Arsenal in 2007 to West Ham.

Who remembers that Ljungberg was the first player to score a goal in an FA CUP final outside England, when our dear Arsenal lost to Liverpoo at Cardiff? Well, Ljungberg has paid his dues at Arsenal and can be classified as an Arsenal legend; yes or no?

At Arsenal presently, we are having issues with our wing play and what better way to fix it, than to have the master of the wings during his playing days play? He can be allowed to play, while the likes of Saka, Pepe and even Auba watch and learn, can’t he? Asking the FA to allow us use a player-coach won’t be a bad idea, will it? Freddie still has it him and he should be allowed to freely express himself on the football pitch.

So next summer, while thinking of players to buy, can we please re-sign Freddie as a player-coach to solve Arsenal’s winger problem, please?
