Ornstein confirms Arsenal in talks with PSG for French midfielder

Considering that Arsenal are in desperate need of a defender, it has come as a bit of surprise that the Gunners are currently talking to Unai Emery’s old club PSG over their 21 year-old midfielder Christopher Nkunku, who has played 46 times for the French Champions. He is also a regular France U21 international.0

This rumour is very likely to be true, as not only has it been revealed by David Ornatein, he has published it on the official BBC website. This is what the article said…..

Arsenal are in talks to sign Paris St-German midfielder Christopher Nkunku.

The 21-year-old France youth international played under Gunners head coach Unai Emery when he was in charge of the French side last season.

But he has featured less frequently since Thomas Tuchel took charge.

Arsenal want to take Nkunku on loan until the end of the season with an option to then buy – but PSG are said to favour extending his contract before sanctioning a loan move.

The Premier League club are attracted by Nkunku’s versatility and view him as a potential successor to Aaron Ramsey, who is set to leave as a free agent next summer.

Although the deal is complex and at an early stage, there is full consensus across the Arsenal hierarchy that it should be pursued.

Although he usually plays in central midfield he is also used as a winger, which is another spot we urgently need filled, so maybe the Gunners have given up trying to prise James Rodriguez from Real Madrid and have switched their attention to Nkunku.

At least Emery will know the youngster very well as he brought him into the PSG first team. So hopefully will be an excellent buy….
