Ospina collapses but scans reveal no problems

The on-loan Arsenal keeper David Ospina was injured in a collision while playing for Napoli against Udinese, but in spite of a cut to his head he carried on playing until he collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

Thus is how it was reported by Reuters….

The Colombian goalkeeper, who arrived on a season-long loan from Arsenal in the close season, collided with Udinese’s Ignacio Pussetto early in the game and collapsed later in the first half before being carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

“Fortunately it’s nothing serious,” Ancelotti said to Italian broadcasters after the game.

“He had a CT scan and it has come back clear. He needs to remain under supervision, but he is fine. He was conscious.”

His well-being was then confirmed by the official Napoli Twitterfeed a little later…

That is good news for the Colombian, as there were worries that it was serious when he originally collapsed. And Ospina should now be more than fit enough to play against Arsenal in the Europa League Quarter-Finals, if there is no prior agreement in place to stop his particpation….
