Player’s representative believes a move to Arsenal could happen

It is being reported today that Genk forward Leandro Trossard, could be on his way to Arsenal this summer.

German outfit Wolfsburg are also interested in the Belgium international who was a member of Roberto Martinez World Cup squad in 2018.

According to Goal, the 24-year-old’s agent Josy Comhair has confirmed that there is no deal agreed yet but a move to Arsenal would be joining a club at the highest level.

He told Het Nieuwsblad: “There is no agreement with any club yet. But I think that Germany is a beautiful country for him. You can take it one step higher via Germany.

“Because with Arsenal you are immediately at the highest level and you can almost only go down. But yes, it can also be Arsenal.”

A fee in the region of €20 million is being mooted by Comhair mainly due to the sale prices of players he considers in the same category.

“If you sell [Wilfred] Ndidi [to Leicester City] for €17 million, you can sell Leandro for 20, you know. For less than €20 million you don’t have Leandro,” he added.

In the same report, it claims that we have been monitoring the player since last year.

Trossard, who has scored 12 goals in 28 league matches, would not be a marquee signing but considering our transfer budget and wage restrictions he would certainly have a role to play within the squad and that is where we are at right now, looking for players that can fit in nicely and perform to a certain standard at an affordable price and by all accounts Trossard is such a player.

Considering the comments from the agent this particular rumour does carry some credibility but then again, agents are notorious for ramping up their clients in order to engineer a move.
