Ramsey needs to sign new deal to become an Arsenal legend

Ramsey needs to stay at Arsenal as a legend by Iomie

Henrikh Mkhitaryan wants contract rebel Aaron Ramsey to sign a new deal with the club, with talks taking far to long over a new contract. The Welshman is arguably one of the most important players at the club, with his energy, leadership and creativity giving us something different in attack.

But in the last few months he has been linked with a big money move to either Manchester United or Chelsea, with both reportedly ready to make a move and get him signed for a fee of £50 million, which is £30 million less than what we could get if he was on a long-term deal.

But Mkhitaryan, who joined the club back in January, believes Ramsey will become a vital piece of Unai Emery’s squad if he agrees to a new deal and finally commits his immediate future to the club.

He said on the official website: ‘His work rate is very, very high and everyone appreciates what he does on the pitch and off it, because he’s a true professional.

‘Of course it’s very easy to play next to him because he tries to be everywhere to help the team – to score goals, to assist, to tackle, recover balls – and that’s why I’m going to be very happy if he stays at the club.

‘I think he’s been with the club for 10 years already and it seems that he became a symbol for this club. I will be very happy for him if he signs a new contract because he’s in the history of Arsenal already and I hope he can become a legend for Arsenal after a few more years.’

Now it is pure speculation, but Ramsey reportedly wants a deal that is close to that of German Mesut Ozil, who held the club to ransom in February and managed to agree a reportedly £350,000-a-week contract.

While his performances since the signing of that deal have been somewhat, crap, he is set to be Emery’s main focus of attack next season, with a new role rumoured.

And Ramsey believes he is just as important and just as worthy of a massive contract to stay at the Emirates, something many fans will debate considering just how inconsistent he can be.
