Ramsey right on EPL title race but will Arsenal be there?

Arsenal may not have played at our top level against Sunderland, well let’s be honest and say we were nowhere near it, but we did get the three points that we needed to keep the Premier League title challenge going strong. We would have gone top as well if Leicester City had not carried on with their remarkable season, winning comfortable away to Swansea City.

That win for the Foxes, along with the dropped points by all of our main title rivals, was not even all that surprising because that is the way this season has been going since the start. Chelsea and their awful performances and results have been as much of a shock as Leicester. Man United have been grinding out results but they have been so boring and uninspiring that it is hard to believe they can actually win the league. Man City have been as erratic as a bipolar person on a rollercoaster, Liverpool and the spuds have seen their recent momentum stopped and Arsenal have begun to suffer from the annual injury crisis.

So it is hard to argue with the post match comments of our Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey, reported by Arsenal.com. As well as giving credit to the new league leaders and talking about how good it felt to be back playing in the centre of midfield, Ramsey suggested that this EPL title race would be fought to the very end.

He said, “Yes it was very important to get the win after losing one game and drawing another and it was important to get back to winning ways and close the gap on the top and it was nice to do it at home in front of the fans.

“It is really close at the moment. Teams are taking points off each other so it is going to be tight all the way through and it is important to keep ourselves in the race for this busy time and into the New Year and it was a good way to start ahead of December.

“It felt really good today. I feel a lot more comfortable and it suited my game a lot better, I could time my runs into the box and get on the end of things and I could have had two or three goals but at the end of the day I’m happy.

“It is quite a surprise Leicester are there but full credit to them, they have been exceptional but it is important for ourselves and what we have done today.”

It really does look like this season will go right down to the wire but which clubs will still be there at the end and will Arsenal be one of them?
