Ramsey’s last chance to sign – N’Zonzi or Gomes to replace him?

Unai Emery and most Arsenal fans would prefer Aaron Ramsey to sign a contract extension to keep him at the club for the rest of his career, but the fact is that, with just one year remaining, he will have to be sold rather than kept to leave for free next summer and a decision will have to be made quickly as there is less than a month left of the transfer window.

So if he goes, who could we get into replace him? The obvious candidate for me is Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi, who has worked well under Emery before and is very experienced in the Premier League, but Barcelona’s Andre Gomes is another one that is being mooted as a replacement for the Welshman.

The Portugese international has never really settled at the Camp Nou over the two years he has been there, and he made it quite clear in March that he wanted to get away as soon as possible. He said: “I don’t feel good on the pitch,”

“I am not enjoying what I am doing. The first six months were pretty good but then things changed.

“Maybe it’s not the right word to use, but it has turned into a bit of a hell, because I have started to feel more pressure.

“With pressure I feel fine, but with the pressure on myself, I don’t. The feeling that I have during games is bad.”

So he is yet another live possibility and a very skilled player. Another poit in his favour is he is only 24 compared to N’Zonzi’s 29, but I still think the safest option for this season would be the ex-Stoke man. What do you think?
