Relax Gooners! Being underdogs is better for Arsenal

It has been an awfully long time since we saw Arsenal lift the Premier League trophy, so a lot of Arsenal fans will have forgotten exactly what it took to get there. In fact it has been so long that apart from Arsene Wenger, nobody on the firing line for the Gunners knows what it is like to win a title for Arsenal.

What we do have going for us after 12 years of disappointment, frustration, nearly misses and endless debates about why a particular season went wrong, is a lot of experience about what does not work. And from an Arsenal point of view in recent years one of the biggest factors for the club has been the ability to cope with the pressure of expectation.

It was just a couple of years ago when Arsenal spent a lot more time at the top of the Premier League table than any of our rivals but we seemed to crumble when the business end of things began. It was not just Arsenal either, because that season saw both Chelsea and Liverpool take control of the race only to mess it up and the eventual winners Man City snuck in at the last minute.

I really think that would be the best way for Arsenal to win a title as it would not give the players time to think about what they could lose, so although it is far from ideal to be nine points off the top, I do reckon that being underdogs suits Arsenal and as long as we keep in touch it will put pressure on Chelsea and not us.

What do you guys think?
