Roma rumour to push up price of Rabiot to Arsenal transfer?

If the number of Arsenal transfer rumours currently doing the rounds about the young Central midfielder Adrien Rabiot are anything to go by, there is certainly real interest from Arsene Wenger, despite the Frenchman refusing point blank to discuss him at the pre-match press conference.

Over the last few days, we have heard that Rabiot’s current club, French champions PSG, have slashed their asking price for the talented 19-year old, which has apparently caused Wenger to make his move. There has been a report about the central midfielder’s agent and mother arriving in London to finalise the deal, but then the latest reports, including one by Metro, suggests that the Gunners may face a late battle with Roma.

The Serie A side have apparently made a late bid to hijack the transfer and even though Rabiot is said to prefer Arsenal, the interest from the Italian club may cause PSG to up the transfer fee again. Unless they have already accepted an offer, they would certainly welcome a bidding war. However, the fact that the latest rumours come from France may mean that they are just that and have been started for the purpose of pushing up the price. We should know more very soon…
