Everton are claimed to be eyeing a £30 Million move to sign Danny Welbeck from Arsenal this summer, but would we sell?
The England international has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, but has always returned to fitness as a part of Arsene Wenger’s plans, and seems to be a player the French boss likes to work with.
£30 Million is not an amount to completely dismiss for a player who has only started 33 Premier League matches since joining in 2014 for a supposed £16 Million fee.
Welbeck could well turn out to be our new Theo Walcott, with his recurrent injury problems, and with the manager holding him in high regard, and he may well end up becoming a burden on our first-team squad.
Theo has come under scrutiny from fans over recent years, having struggled with form following injuries on a number of occasions, as well as with his injuries regularly ruling him out, but enjoyed a blistering season last year, and is still wanted out by many fans.
If Welbeck is prepared for that kind of stick and is willing to continue to work hard on and off the pitch like his team-mate, than maybe he could still prove a hit at the Emirates Stadium, but I can’t help but think that we could replace him this summer without too much hassle.
Is Welbeck an important squad member? Would Arsene Wenger consider selling him? Should we take the £30 Million and run? Do we have to consider Everton as a team we shouldn’t strengthen?
