Serge Gnabry’s minimum fee release clause has reportedly been revealed as a lowly £6.8 Million, and the Metro has hinted that Arsenal should make up for their mistake and bring him back.
The German international left us in the summer to join Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee, a fee which varied wildly between £2-8 Million depending on which publication you read, but the higher ones simply have to be untrue if his selling-on fee is as low as £6.8 Million.
The winger has since impressed in the Bundesliga scoring seven goals and creating one, despite his side struggling in the bottom half of the table.
The 21 year-old’s impressive form even earned him a surprise call-up to the Germany senior side, in which he grasped with both hands, and netted himself a hat-trick against San Marino in the World Cup qualifiers.
Many Arsenal fans have seen the rise to fame of their former youngster with angst, and some would even call it a mistake to have let him go, but the fact of the matter was he was entering the final year of his contract, and wanted first-team assurances to stay put.
We granted his wish and allowed him to leave, and I can only imagine that whilst we would like to see the youngster return and live up to his potential in our beloved red shirt, that even you can admit that we simply cant guarantee him a first-team role.
We are set to welcome back Danny Welbeck any day now, as well as having Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Alex Iwobi, Lucas Perez, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez all sharing those wide roles which he would be hoping to play in.
