It is very interesting that Arsenal have now told the fans that they will not let another Ozil, Alexis or Ramsey saga happen to the club, and players will be sold if they refuse to sign extended contracts. Apparently our supporters were told this at a meeting that included Josh Kroenke as well as Venkatesham and Sanllehi.

The club’s managing director Vinai Venkatesham and director of football Raul Sanllehi said the club must be more efficient and make “hard decisions,” particularly when it comes to player contracts.
That is understood to be surrounding player deals like Aaron Ramsey who is leaving on a free transfer this summer after Arsenal withdrew a contract offer last autumn, allowing him to sign for Juventus on a lucrative deal.
But in future the club insisted that they would sell players and be more ruthless and if they have two years left and will not renew then they will be sold.
If this is true, then if this new management structure had been in place for the last two years then neither Ozil nor Ramsey would have been playing either last season or this one. I’m not sure that that would have been such a good thing, as I am certain they would not have been replaced by equal or better players, or certainly ones that would have cost as much. Would it be just as cost effective to keep our stars for two more years for their contribution to the team rather than replace them with lesser players?
It is an interesting question, as I wonder if this also means that we won’t be buying players that have run down their contracts at other clubs?
