Jack Wilshere has been an Arsenal player since he was 9 years of age and he has risen through the ranks as an arsenal player and at the age of 15, was named the captain of the Arsenal under 16 side. At age 16, he became the fifth sixteen year old player to ever feature in a UEFA champions league match, against Dynamo Kiev in November 2008. He signed his first professional contract in January 2019.
Wishere’s impact in an Arsenal shirt when fit cannot be ignored. He has scored great goals for arsenal. The match against Norwich in the 2013-2014 season, is a match I will always remember, because in that game, Wilshere scored a beautiful goal; he worked his way past several Norwich players, with the ball glued to his leg, before scoring a beautiful goal. Do I really need to eulogize Wilshere forever before we realize how important he has been for us? That he was compared to many Arsenal greats as a younger player only testifies to the creativity of this wonderful footballer. However, we are set to lose him to Bournemouth, if the story from the coach is to be believed.
In an interview with Sky Sport, Howe has revealed his desire to sign the midfielder permanently but said no talks have been held with Arsenal over a potential transfer. “I can’t rate Jack enough as a footballer, as a person, how he has come into the team and what he has delivered for us, but there has been no discussion with Arsenal. As I see it, Jack is on loan for the season and then we will look at it and Jack will look at it at the end of the season.”
While it is only normal for Bournemouth to be interested in signing the midfielder permanently, it is unlikely that Wenger would sanction such deal. The boss has always stressed that Wilshere’s long-term future is at the Emirates and I expect it to be so.
Gooners may be worried by the constant speculation surrounding the England international’s future but I don’t think there is any reason to worry. Talks to extend his contract will commence when he returns to the Emirates at the end of the season and as an Arsenal man that he is, he is expected to sign a new deal. Wilshere has featured in 21 of Bournemouth’s 24 league games this season and has two assists to his name. If he can maintain his fitness through the whole season the surely we can accept his injury problems are over?
In my opinion, Arsenal should not allow Wilshere to leave. Who agrees?
