Should Arsenal give Aaron Ramsey a massive pay rise or let him go?

Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey are Arsenal’s only survivors of the famous British Core that all signed five years ago, and were lauded as the future of Arsenal and the England team. But right now Jack Wilshere’s contract runs out at the end of this season, and Ramsey’s 12 months later.

All the rumours are reporting that Wilshere has been offered a new deal on reduced wages but with performance bonuses, and despite all the rhetoric from him and Wenger it looks like they are no closer to any agreement with time running out.

Arsenal are very keen for Ramsey to agree a new extension before the end of the season or risk having another Ozil/Alexis situation on their hands, but there is a report today that the Welshman and his agent are willing to risk running down the contract next season, and holding the club to ransom to give him a massive increase on his current £110,000 a week or allow him to negotiate with other clubs next January.

Aaron now has more than 300 appearances for the club, but in his 7 years as a first team regular he has only averaged around 27 League games per season due to ongoing injury problems. Wenger has always kept faith in him no matter what, just as he did with Wilshere, but the fans have often lost patience with the Welshman because of his lack of confidence in front of goal and his average shows just 6 League goals per season.

But maybe he has now got over that as he has scored 6 goals already this season (helped by his first ever hat-trick against Everton in his last match) but he immediately went out injured again until (hopefully) returning for the Cup Final tomorrow.

So should Arsenal still give him a massive rise to persuade him to stay? Or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer?
