Should Arsenal swoop to beat transfer shy Spurs to Barkley?

We Arsenal fans have had way more than our fair share of disappointing transfer windows, especially during the last 10 years or so when the move from Highbury to the new Emirates Stadium and the way it was financed left Arsene Wenger trying to compete with cash rampant Premier League rivals like Man City and Chelsea on a shoestring budget.

And while it still looks like the Gunners will fall way short of the spending of some clubs once again this summer, the boss has done a lot more than our north London rivals Tottenham, and according to a Metro report we could be about to give the spuds another roasting in the transfer market.

The report explains that one of their top targets is the Everton and England attacking midfield star Ross Barkley, who the Toffees’ manager Ronald Koeman has admitted will be moving on, but that their chairman Daniel Levy thinks the price is too high and hopes to sign Barkley for less just before the window closes.

That leaves the door open for another club to swoop in and beat Spurs to the punch, so would you like it to be Arsenal that got Barkley and left our rival fans in the same sort of mood that we have felt ourselves many times over?
