Lucas Perez joined Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruña last summer, but after a tough opening season, could be set for an early exit.
Perez joined the club in a supposed £17 Million move on deadline day last year, but has failed to break into Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans this term.
The Spanish international impressed in his limited outings in the first-team, but continued to be overlooked much to the frustration of the star.
Lucas is now expected to push for an exit, with hopes of holding down regular playing time before next summer’s World Cup competition in Russia, but Wenger may have other ideas.
The Frenchman previously revealed that if Wenger is staying, he would like to sit down with the left-footed forward and try to convince him to stay also, and we firmly believe that the 67 year-old manager is staying put.
Seville are now claimed to be keen on a deal which would bring Perez back to Spain, and are believed to be willing to repay the funds we parted with only last summer. The Rojiblancos were in talks over a move to sign him from Depor last year, before we swooped in and brought him to the UK.
Perez has shown he has more than enough ability to succeed at our club, but I fear that our latest formation change, which accommodates one less attacking player, has made his hopes of regular action too slim.
I don’t think Wenger will have any chance of convincing him to stay, not unless he agrees to offload Olivier Giroud, which I simply do not see happening.
Could Lucas agree to stay in any way shape or form? Did he deserve to play more regularly last season?
