Sky Sports pundit believes Brendan Rodgers should reject the Arsenal job

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher reckons Brendan Rodgers should swerve Arsenal.

Brendan Rodgers has been made one of the favourites to land the Arsenal job permanently after they fired Unai Emery.

Arsenal has been consistently linked with Rodgers, but Carragher believes that is unrealistic and Rodgers should reject a move to the Emirates.

Rodgers has spent less than a year at the King Power Stadium having only joined them in February, but he has made them title challengers and they are currently second in the standings ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea.

Carragher believes that it is just too soon for Rodgers to move clubs again.

“I think the position he is in, there is no doubt you want to get right to the top,” Carragher told Sky Sports per FourFourTwo.

“Leicester are second now but they aren’t one of the top clubs in the league.

“I don’t think it is right if he is even thinking about moving to Arsenal right now.

“He got a lot of stick when he left Celtic before the end of last season, which was a tough decision for him.

“If he moved now, he would get that tag of jumping ship very quickly. He has got to look at the next 18 months and think he is going to do something with Leicester.

“He will at one stage want to go to one of those big clubs.”

Leicester is on fire right now and a win against Liverpool would confirm them as genuine title contenders.

However, there remain limitations with the Foxes, they are not a top European club, Arsenal is. If Rodgers is as ambitious as he appears it would be very strange if he turned down the Gunners.

It is also a huge challenge for any manager to turn around Arsenal’s fortunes. That is not something that Carragher has taken on board. Rodgers could build a dynasty at the Emirates. Not sure that is possible at Leicester City.
