Sunderland are a great challenge for Arsenal

Arsenal’s game today against Sunderland is a great chance for the Gunners to get back to winning ways. We are on a run of three games without a win while our opponents have won two in a row to drag themselves out of the relegation zone so Big Sam has helped them gain in confidence.

Arsene Wenger thinks this game is a chance to prove that our bad run is just a blip in our race for the Premiership title. “We have gone through a little bit of a bad spell in recent games, but we are two points off the top,” Le Prof said on Arsenal.com. “The great opportunity for us is that, despite that bad spell, we are very close.

“That’s why it’s important that we keep our confidence and our determination very high, and start winning again.

“It’s always a disappointment to lose players at an important moment of the season. But on the other hand, it’s a great challenge for the team and a great opportunity to show that we are ready for a fight and can deal with it.”

Wenger is also aware that any teammanaged by Big Sam is not going to make life easy for the Gunners. “He has made them much more solid defensively, and much more difficult to beat,” Wenger continued. “That is always very important when a team has a lack of confidence.

“With Sam Allardyce, you know that you will be confronted with a resilient team, who are quick on the break. They used that well against Crystal Palace for example, when I saw the game, and they have made results recently.”

Against West Brom and Norwich, we all thought that Arsenal would win easily, but as we are expecting a hard game today we will be expecting to perform under pressure. That’s why I think we will win!
