Sweet strike and new contract great news for Arsenal and Walcott

It appears that it has not taken long for representatives of Arsenal Football Club and The England international star Theo Walcott to come to an agreement over the terms of a new contract, even though the 26-year old refused to shed any light on the situation after scoring the only goal of the game against Wolfsburg in the Emirates Cup today.

Prior to the game today, which saw the Gunners win our own trophy for the first time in five years, it was being reported by The Mirror among others that the fleet footed forward is poised to put pen to paper on a bumper new four year deal which will keep him at the club until he is 30-years old and make him one of our highest paid players.

Whether this means that Arsene Wenger is not going to sign another striker in the summer transfer window or not is still unclear but he did start Walcott in the centre forward position again today. After a few chances went begging in the first half, Walcott made no mistake early in the second half, linking up with the very impressive young Gunner from the academy, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and slotting coolly past the Wolfsburg keeper.

So with Theo continuing to show great form and giving the boss a very good option to Giroud in the middle as well as on the flanks, this new contract really is great news. But have we got enough firepower without signing anyone?
