Szczesny has no interest in playing under Wenger again

Wojneich Szczesny left Arsenal under a cloud after he was unceremoniously dropped by Arsene Wenger after some particularly bad displays that were compounded by being caught smoking in the showers after an error-ridden match. He was exiled to Italy with Roma, and as time has gone by he has cemented his place as Number One in the Italian capital.

He has definitely matured in his time here, but still has not been released from his contract with the Gunners, which still has a couple of years to run. Recently he was out with the President of the Polish Football Association, Zbigniew Boniek, who has revealed that the Polish international has no interest in returning to London to play under Wenger.

Boniek was reported as saying, “I went to dinner with Szczesny and he says that he would like to remain with Roma.

“If Wenger remains, I do not think he will return to London and more, he has a contract expiring in 2019 with the Gunners.

“At this point there are two possibilities: Arsenal bring him back or fix a figure.

“It is safe, however, 100% that he would like to remain in the capital.”

With Petr Cech’s invincibility looking a little suspect this season, and David Ospina known to be inconsistent, it would have made sense to bring Szczesny back at some point considering his improvement, but it looks like the only way that could happen is if Wenger leaves this summer….
