FA set to rename FA Cup as “The Arsenal Cup”!!

Arsenal are the current holders of the FA Cup after beating Wigan last year, and are hot favourites to retain the trophy when they face Aston Villa next month at Wembley. If they do emerge victorious then we will have the record amount of successes in the competition with and to commemorate that fact, the FA have decided to rename it “The Arsenal Cup”…….. lol

Okay I’m only joking, they could never do that to the oldest Cup Competition in the World, but they ARE set to name it “The Emirates FA Cup” as our own club sponsors have decided to pay to have their name on the publicity. According to reports they are going to pay £30million for a three-year deal, to add to their contracts with clubs like Arsenal and PSG.

This season’s competition was left without a sponsor as the Football Association failed to find a replacement for Budweiser after their deal last year, and they are actively looking to finalise a new arrangement before the Final next month. A spokesman for the Football Association said: “We continue to remain in discussions with a number of parties about FA Cup partner opportunities.” but the report says that the “Emirates Airlines are confident of securing a three-year sponsorship.”

This can only be good news for the Gunners as we generally do well in “The Emirates Cup” every year so it will be like playing home-from-home for the next three seasons. We will have already played two Finals in a row with the Emirates on our jerseys, so maybe we can repeat the feat for the next three years as well.

In fact I think we’ll do the Double every year!
