“The pressure is on Arsenal” against Doncaster

Arsenal are preparing for the visit of lowly Doncaster Rovers in the Caraboa Cup tomorrow night, and it should be an easy win with Donny just one point above the League One relegation zone with just one win in their first 8 games. But a Cup game is a Cup game and as we know, anything can happen.

The Doncaster defender Andy Butler reckons that the pressure is on Arsenal while Doncaster can just enjoy the occasion. He said: “We are the underdogs and the pressure is on them to beat us, so we’ll just do what we can and try and put a good show on.

“As professional sportsmen we’ll approach this game like we would any other – we’ll look at their strengths and weaknesses and see where we could hurt them. We want to go there and do the best we can and try to win the game.”

Despite their lowly position, Doncaster will be bringing 5000 travelling fans, and Butler wants to give their supporters something to cheer about at the Emirates: “It gives everyone a good day out, not just for us but the fans as well. There are not many chances to go watch your team against a top four side.

“It is fantastic. The ticket prices have been brilliant as well to encourage that support, but it still costs to get down there and the fans have put their hands into their pockets. We want to put a good performance for them.”

The pressure is indeed on the Arsenal second string, as they will want to impress Arsene Wenger as well as win through to the next round. There will be all eyes on our youngsters in the hope they can prove themselves to be stars of the future. It should be a great night out for everyone….
