Arsenal have enjoyed all of Saturday’s Premier League results, and go into Sunday’s match as huge favourites to grab all three points, but something feels too good to be true…
Liverpool helped us to start the day in ecstatic fashion, falling two goals behind before looking like they were going to ruin my lunch! But no, their comeback proved pointless, and only made their loss all the more enjoyable and entertaining as Gylfi Sigurdsson sealed the 3-2 demise of Liverpool, their first home loss of the campaign.
Then onto Manchester United in the 3PM kick off. The Red Devils travelled to the Bet365 Stadium in top form, but despite playing like the winning team, and the match being completely one-sided, it ended in a stalemate!
Stoke notched up just the sole shot on target, but led for 75 minutes thanks to an own goal deep inside the first-half. United were wasteful from the off and only managed to level the game with their 25th and final shot of the match deep into injury-time. The talk will be all about Wayne Rooney breaking Bobby Charlton’s record today, but the fact is they dropped points for the second week running.
Then onto the big match, and once again we get the perfect result! Realistically we wanted anything but a Spurs win, but we also didn’t really want to see the Citizens leap-frog us in the table, so 2-2 was ideal, with the bonus of having watched an exciting match-up.
But now we have to do our bit, and it should be simple. We host Burnley, who sit comfortably in the middle of the table and can boast about wins over both Liverpool and Everton already this term. That form does not reflect equally away from home however, with the Clarets only picking up the sole point away from home all term, scoring only three times!
Of course we would also need Chelsea not to beat relegation-threatened Hull City to complete the perfect weekend of results, but why am I now having doubts over Arsenal walking away with the overpoweringly obvious win we should be getting?
Is anyone else thinking this weekend could be too good to be true?
